Current legal position is that spousal maintenance is not “ bread for life “. The idea is to assist her to be self supporting. If circumstances have changed since the court order for spousal maintenance ( on divorce) you can bring an application at the maintenance court at the Magistrates Court near you for a variation (change) of the order, citing those reasons. Also have a look at the conditions of the current order.

Don’t pay her what she is not entitled to under the current order, before you apply for a variation. For example: Relocation funds. Demands cannot be made on you for any reason.
