Salary paid in wrong account
I worked for Turnerland manufacturing in Hopefield from the 26 November 2017 until the 29 December 2017. The owner of the company was verbally abusive and racist towards me and also the other employees. I could not handle it any longer and resigned. After many e-mails I received an e-mail on Tuesday the 9 January 2018 with my payslip and a confirmation of payment of my salary. When I checked the account number there was one digit wrong even though I gave them the correct details. I mailed the financial director who is also the owner’s wife and later on the day she replied and said the bank will try and reverse it. I mailed her again yesterday and today for feedback but she has not responded. What legal recourse do I have.
It is clear that the error and delay are bank’s doing, not Turnerland Manufacturing. The position of Payment Association of South Africa [ PASA] in this situation is that the customer must be assisted fully by the bank where possible to effect recovery of the funds. I think what you should do is to be patient, alternatively contact the bank directly.
