No answer from insurance ombudsman for 10 months
We had a car accident 2 years ago. Claim was declined by Discovery. Ombudsman said even though we have a good case they can’t help us because we signed a certain letter from Discovery. We did not sign this letter and we’ve been waiting 10 months for the ombudsman to give us proof of this signed letter and to let us know if they will be able to help us. We follow up every week but they just ignore us. Where do you go if ombud can’t help you?

What reasons did discovery give for declining your claim? You should request a copy of your file from Discovery. It’s your right under the freedom of information act. If the Ombudsman is not being helpful and you are unable to escalate the matter, you can sue Discovery in the civil magistrate’s court, and ask for the cost of suit if defended. You will need the assistance of a lawyer.
