Rights of contracted employees
I am employed on a contractual basis. According to labour law I understand that irrespective of my contractual status I should be treated as any other employee and thus eligible for the same benefits. All permanent employees have received a year end increase but all those on contract have not. Are they able to do this?

Hello,
Independent contractors are not employees in terms of section 213 of the Labour Relations Act. If you however believe that you are indeed an employee, my advice is that you address the non payment of benefit issue with your employer. Also revisit your contract of employment, thoroughly. Thank you.
