My ex-landlord told that I should pay for month’s rent
My landlord informed me that he would be immigrating and would thus be putting the property on sale. Consequently I should start looking for a new place, which i did. I acted on his instructions and told him that I would be moving out the following month. On the last day I handed over the keys, fully paid up. He later phoned to demand another month’s rent with the cost of utilities even though he still holds my deposit with interest. He is threatening to list me at the credit bureau.
I would suggest you approach the Housing Rental Tribunal to help resolve the issue. They will examine the facts and reach a binding decision. On the facts he has no right to list you, and keep your deposit, after you acted on his instruction. That should be challenged.
